Carlsberg: Unbottle Yourself
Carlsberg is on a mission – to get the most reserved people on Earth (the Swedes) to unbottle and loosen up. The way to do this is by giving them challenges with a new app, and the challenges (500+) can be anything. The Swede that unbottles most – and let’s his/hers inner “brew “out – will win a trip to Hong Kong with a group of friends. The mission starts April 5th and you can follow the mission/project on the campaign site where participants will upload films of completed challenges.
Twitter Turns 5
Twitter has turned 5 and as a celebration we will go through some of the statistics behind the popular “gossip site”. Let’s begin with one of the impressive ones: on average more than 1 billion tweets a week! Some of these tweets are mainly everyday life updates while others are spreading the news. A great example of this is June 25 when Michael Jackson died which resulted in 456 tweets per second. Twitter can be used for spreading the news but mostly it’s just a great time consuming activity. However some do use Twitter to power a Mercedes-Benz. Looking at a few growth rates reveals an increase in the daily number for tweets is on the rise (March 2010 – February 2011 =280%) and an increase in the number of new accounts (an average of 460,000 per day in February 2011). Whether all of these accounts are active users or are used as spam generators is not something Twitter want’s to comment on, but the number is remarkable.
To celebrate the anniversary the folks at Twitter has put together a video of a couple of users and what/how the user their Twitter account. We will visit many – everyone from Snoop Dogg to astronauts.
One Man Disney Movie
First glance at today’s post and you might think that we are writing about The Brady Bunch, but the man in focus is Nick Pitera. Perhaps you have seen Nick in the YouTube hit video “A Whole New World”, that has been seen by more than 22 million people, where he delivers an impressive cover version of the song from Disney’s Aladdin. Nick has specialized in singing Disney songs and has since he was 5 been dreaming of speaking a character in a Disney movie.
To enhance his chances of realizing his dream he proves his talent by doing a Disney medley where he sings as the: heroine, hero, sidekick, villain and choir! The medley contains classics from “The Beauty and the Beast”, “The Jungle Book” and finishes strong with the icon song “When You Wish Upon a Star”. Maybe the next time you will see (or hear) Nick it will be in a Disney film?
Adidas Is In All
The fact that Adidas is in us all is underlined in the style of this advert. The recipe: The celebrities are mixed with “ordinary” people to music that – mostly after airtime – will become popular. In this advert it’s the French electro-duo Justice with the track “Civilization”. The track appears on their new album (entitled Civilization) that will be released this year. Several tracks have been leaked already but this will only fuel the hype about both the album and this advert.
Adidas products can be incorporated in sports, hiphop – in short: it’s a lifestyle. The fast-paced cutting between stars like David Beckham, Katy Perry, Messi and Caroline Wozniacki works even better when it is mixed with cheerleaders, mascots and smiling, raving faces at concerts. Adidas Is In All!
