Virtual Christmas

Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam arranged a somewhat different Christmas dinner for 156 people from 6 different countries. By using Skype family members and strangers could wish each other a merry Christmas. A special face tracking feature enabled the guests to move their heads and their “body”.

We do recommend that you start building your own virtual Christmas table – it might come in handy when most of Europe’s airports are closed due to snow. Will the Christmas of 2010 be the first held in cyberspace?

Simon’s Cat: Santa Claws

Some time ago we wrote about Simon Tofield and his YouTube series “Simon’s Cat”. This episode can be regarded as a Christmas Special, and perhaps Tofield has been inspired by the Disney classic “Pluto’s Christmas Tree” from 1952?

Once again we want to express our excitement when seeing the very life-like movements of the cat. Yes, the Christmas spirit is slowly settling in.

Your 2010 Christmas Party Inspiration

Perhaps it is your task to arrange this year’s Christmas Party at the office, and you might find yourself – like many others – totally uninspired. Fear not, we have some inspiration for you. If you – or someone at the office – is in possession of either an iPhone or and iPad we recommend a great app by Absolut Vodka: “Drinkspiration”. This application contains hundreds of drink recipes, suggestions for drinks defined by your location (global), it even suggest what drink you should enjoy to the music that is being played. This will surely start the party.

When you and your colleagues have been around the bar (perhaps more than once), we recommend the program “social media sobriety test”. The program is available for download at http://socialmediasobrietytest.com/, and it will deny you access to Facebook or Twitter if you are too intoxicated. The program has become popular because many people will post awkward status updates and comments when drunk. To be able to gain access to you Facebook account you will have to pass a few tests that should determine if you are allowed access. We recommend – just as a precaution – that you install the program before the party starts. Check out the demo here.

We wish you a great party, cheers!
